If you suddenly found out that your internal monologue for the last week was actually audible, how screwed would you be? What kinda effect would it have on your relation with others?
-
For me, on the scale of 1 to 10....an 11😅
How about you guys? -

How about you guys?I'm such an introvert, that even though my monologue would be audible, I would have mumbled all the time so nobody would have understood me :joy:
-
@petrapark3r and what if the mumbling was heard by someone?

They'd think I'm quite the negative minded kinda person, always criticizing everyone and everything including myself all the time

@Anastasia-Smith I'd be a 9 screwed in some ways, and in others be fine and not bothered so perhaps a 3. It mostly concerns being far too popular and not wanting to behave in any immoral way, although I'm sure some might not be impressed 😂

Oh FUCK. I think the diritest things sometimes, or wierdest. My thoughts are uncensored. Ummm also my parents would know im questoning my sexuality so 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 FUCKS. But seriously, that'd be terrible.

@pe7erpark3r It's like in 'Heroes', when that telepath would hear people internally read out their pin numbers as they typed them in. I don't buy that anyone's internal monologue is actually like that. I think it's just raw emotions with a few solid concepts tacked on. Unless the telepath has got some kinda emotional version of The Enigma Machine running in their heads that codes and recodes stuff ...and if you've got that amount of processing power in your head, surely you'd be better off counting cards in a casino?

I would be in a psych ward pretty quickly

No that's where you are definitely wrong. You are concluding from yourself to others. But there are different kinds of thinkers (this is from psychological studies)... Some people think in images, others in movements, again others in solid concepts, and of course some – like me – talk to themselves in their thoughts all the time. We all think in emotions though too, so you're right about that.
It's like that with memory too. The luckiest among us have photographic memory: I knew a guy once who learned italian by memorizing the dictionary (photographically). He could tell you for each word on which page it was and which one followed and which one came before. I tested him myself, so its definitely true. Of course he made some stupid mistakes when speaking because languages don't work that way :joy:

@Anastasia-Smith I'd be in hot water everywhere for sure, my inner monologue can be fucking crazy. Much of it i don't even mean, it's just my bored mind entertaining itself but who's gonna believe that?! 😁
-
@Anastasia-Smith It would be highly unfortunate.

@pe7erpark3r That's fascinating. It must be cool to have a certain detachment when you're examining your own thoughts. I usually only talk to myself in the fallout from a steaming row.
I've been thinking recently about trying out remote viewing, y'know. I even ordered a book. :man_bowing_medium_skin_tone:

I was recently at an event where everyone was encouraged to speak their mind. I started speaking and the person I came with was pissed. So I know that many of my thoughts need to be buried.
