Don't fault a dog for being a dog.
Dogs bark. For lots of various reasons. Learn to understand what your dog is saying.
Dogs sniff crotches. It is kinda asking how are you after saying hello.
Male dogs urinate to mark territory.
Dogs will destroy things only out of boredom or neglect. Give them something to chew on when you aren't around.
