I have no idea of this special day from around the world ... but today, here in the U.K. is Mother's Day.

Since I lost mine a few years back and it's a teeny bit of a struggle on the lead up to both her anniversary day and this most speacial of days for those that still have their one, their only .... Their Mum (mom for many of you).

I miss mine dearly, but it's part of life, it IS this circle of life ....
I 100% accept this (not saying it's an easy thing cause it ain't)

But I wish to pass on my thoughts to the many of you out there that still have the luxury of their mother being around and also to the ones like me, that don't.

While you have her, chesirsh your mother like nothing else, for she does not last forever...
For those that don't, keep her in mind, never forget the lessons she taught and always be greatful she was there before

This is for the noobs, and the ones that have been here for a while but seem to miss this particular thing concerning this here community site.

The Subject is Up/Down Votes

In the 5 months I have been here, I have noticed a great many people don't use these magical little buttons.
Some may just ignore them, others may not have noticed them, and the remaining ones that dont use them may just be, um .,... not interested (I shall go with not interested)

In case you have not seen, these are those tiny little buttons

Basically, they are there, similar to the Facebook Like button, excapt you have the chance to "dislike" the post.
They are there to help users build their Rep.
You may have noticed there are things you cannot do when you first join due to Not Enough Privileges
This is either lack of Rep Points or you are not part of a given "Group".
If you have a low rep, but are aiming to one day become a Mod, then your Rep matters.....
(It is a requirement that you have at least 1000 Rep points)
Also, if you upvote people you respond to, they are more likely to upvote your reply.
It's a two way street people

When you respond to a post dont forget to up (or if you prefer down) vote the topic you reply to.

First Off .... Sorry for the delayed message.

As many of you will be aware, there was a huge loss of user infomation here on TalkWithStranger.

During an upgrade to the system, the user database became corrupted.
The guys at admin have spent the day trying to recover the data, sadly to no avail.
The back-up they have had to use is a little over 3 weeks old, as I'm sure many of you have come to realise.

Sadly the data is unrecoverable

There is still so much naivety around concerning this virus. I used to work for a charity (20years ago) that death with the care, concern, raising awareness to the public and fundraising to help people living with HIV and AIDS ......

@nightshifter This is true, but in regards of getting the community to vote for mods, this then makes our thought's, suggestions and opinions null and void.
We can of course sugesst to people that we think would be good in the role, but the fianlity of it is .... the community decide, however jaded people think it is, it's what the community want lol

The way to cut through that is to respond to topics, create topics and to meet some of the regulars in the Public Chatroom.

@Bela-Hella I also dont think mods should be allowed to cast votes.
This rules out the possibility of the community saying You favour this user or that user
As mods we are members of the community, but we are also gaurdians of the community. (Unpaid I mihgt add for those who don't know lol)
As a result I just don't think it's right for us to vote

@Bela-Hella Persnally I don't think DM votes should be counted.
My reasons for this are,

1. It's not transparent
2. Votes should come from active users ( or at least users that visit the site sometimes )
3. Anyone can claim to have votes and use anonymity as a shield to hide who (if any) was the voter
