I live in the Mississippi River delta in Northeast Louisiana. I am a white man and I am a severe minority where I'm at. The effects of slavery are still rife around this place and it is full of hatred both racial and non-racial.
I have to disagree with you. Respectfully there is plenty of racism here against white people and black alike. With the exception of being white I am not part of the problem.
I can cite plenty of examples. I am stereotyped by the color of my skin by some people. Some black some are white. Plenty of misconceptions by those who do not know me make assumptions based upon prior dealing with racial white people.
Personally I have to be reminded that I am white a lot. the majority of the white people around here do not have anything to do with me because I associate with black people. That alone is racist. I live with black people I work with black people and I'm surrounded by black people. I will be somewhere and will have to be reminded hey man don't do that around here or you can't come here or go there because people will think it's a drug deal because your white and we're black. Another form of racism yes?

some of the hatred that is a remnant of the slave days still exists here on both sides of the fence.

My bad habits are numerous and some I should quit and others I will when I get ready to do so.
Most people assume that I want to stop certain things but I don't. Just because it's a bad thing doesn't necessarily mean it isn't usefull to a certain extent. There are some things that I do to escape the reality of my existence. They would definitely be considered bad and habit forming. But they serve their purpose and I don't need anyone that hasn't walked a mile in my shoes to tell me how I should live my life.
In fact most of the people who I know have had a breakdown or so over things much smaller than the things I have been through.
I don't go around telling them what they need to do about it.

I would say that it's relatively true.
I don't sweat any of the little things possibly with the exception of not listening and pretending that you are.
Dishonesty is my number 1 on things that I don't like (and will not have) in a relationship.
I don't care how bad the news is I would much rather be told by my significant other rather than hear it through the grapevine.

One thing that really gets me is I don't ever mislead anyone and when someone all of a sudden finds out I am a man after 10 or 12 texts they always seem to blame me for their not paying attention to what I tell them people generally see what they want to see and ignore what they don't and always judge without bothering to find out the facts it's sad but for the most part it's true and for the people who don't judge until they find out who the person is I want to thank you first and then apologize on behalf of myself and the rest of the world that prematurely places people like me into a category that they do not belong

So many complexities involved here. I think the answer would defend upon which war you served in, and how well people perceive veterans of that era. I would also imagine that it would depend upon where you would be wearing them at.

Personally I have known quite a few veterans here in the US of world war II, the korean war, Vietnam, the Iran conflict, and Afghanistan.
By far the majority that I know that have seen combat don't mention anything about it we're just soon forget that it was ever a part of their lives don't want the medal and don't want acknowledgment they just want to forget that it exists.
This holds just as true for the world war II veterans who came back to a thankful and grateful country parades and all that as well as it does to the veterans of other wars that have seen things that no humans should be forced to not to mention taking part of.
It's no wonder that they shun the metal awards for whatever during a time of their lives they don't want to admit to themselves that they were the type of person who did what they did.
My only wish was there was a better way for our government as well as the population to treat our veterans and respect what they gave to their country I've seen some really good people come back from war not so good people

Sadly nothing exactly mends a broken heart. Time will heal it over and a certain amount of damage has already been done and it is up to you how much is that will be permanent.
My ex used to describe this as another brick in the Wall because every time your heart is broken your survival instinct in an effort to prevent it from happening again build walls around that does preventing you from allowing people into your heart.
Distractions such as meeting someone new and other things will take your mind off of the pain of the broken heart but it does not mend it. Proof of this lies if you take the time to think about the person that broke it your heart will still hurt.
It will be up to you 2 allow or disallow that to happen again by letting others and entrusting them with your feelings and your emotions.
I have been hurt plenty. I choose not to let it change who I am therefore I continue to get hurt however I think I'm a better person for allowing that then I would be if I changed and became callus and cold-hearted.
I'm not going to change being a loving and trusting person just because others are hateful and inconsiderate.

While I agree with you for the most part love and lust are two separate things.
I can lust someone that I do not love, and at times I cannot lust after the one that I love.
I will always want love more than lust. However at certain times such as now I am craving lust. If love happens to fall through the door great but if it doesn't good ol animalistic lust will suffice just fine at the moment. Not in the long run however it will satisfy a basic need
