I think it makes you thankful for the time you do spend with others..... intimate relationships are not every,
Companionships count for more in my eyes, feeling comfortable with some one.... this is regardless of the nature of the relationship.
7 + years for me .... and will be a lot longer lol .. so I,like every event in my life will not allow it to change the core person I have always been... of course there will be some effect, but nothing like selfishness or bitterness :)

You become more independent, you develop your own personality, without taking into account what other person might expect of you. That helps you to get to know yourself and learn to value what you want and what you don't.

I think you will become selfish..

Certainly you become more focused on yourself and your own life goals, and I don't see it as something negative but as something necessary.

In my opinion, being in a relationship is a wonderful thing, but it requires a lot of sacrifice and compromise, and a person who can't stand being alone isn't ready to get involved in a relationship.
