• Hi everyone. @Mr-Ghost brought up riddles and I thought it would be cool if we could all share some riddles, that we found fascinating. I'll post my first in a second.

    Here are the rules:

    1. Mark your riddle like this

Riddle #1: The title of your riddle

    2. When posting a solution make it invisible. I'll add a description on how to do that, once one of you nice peeps tells me how that's done  (I've seen it a lot in quotes). thanks to @Kana here is how: use spoilers. By prefixing with three colons (: : :) and suffixing with three (: : :) colons (without the spaces between the colons).

    3. Don't post solutions for riddles which you haven't solved yourself. That would just be booooring.

Apart from that everything goes. Your riddles don't have to long or complicated. Joke-Riddles are also welcome. Have fun!

  • Riddle #1: The two doors

You are a treasure hunter who went into a magic cave. One trap after the other goes off and you can barely safe yourself stumbling into the final room. Your way back is cut off. Before yourself you find two doors and two guards. Above the doors it reads:

One guard speaks only truth, the other only lies. One question you can ask, a second is your demise. One guard will answer, the other never speak. One door holds all your wishes, the other is your end.

What is the question that will tell you were you will find the fullfillment of your wishes?

PS: the riddle really has a solution, that will guarantee you go through the right door.

    Here's my take:

  • @pe7erpark3r is there a limit on how many questions i should ask?

Yes, one question only. Not to each guard, but only to one. You can choose freely which guard but you don't know which speaks the truth.

That is a very creative approach, haven't heard something like this before. I am not sure however if it would work. Read the spoiler ↓ @Lurker

We would need to try it and see if the guards see it as cheating and kill you for it...

Ingenious idea to get around the "one question only" problem by using boolean logic to combine the results of the questions. I'm not sure though if it works, because I don't get what you mean by your second question.

Hopefully, since it's creative they won't kill me for trying to be a smartpants :joy:

Congratulations on solving the riddle, under the one condition that the guards don't kill you for

in an ingenious way. Anyways the game is still on to find the question that does not use a trick, that could get you killed.

  • Riddle #2: Match game

You measure my life in hours and I serve you by expiring. I’m quick when I’m thin and slow when I’m fat. The wind is my enemy.

    Here's my take: ...

@Lurker you are a genius. While I was out I continued thinking about your solution and it occurred to me, that you actually found not one but two solutions to the riddle. Albeit they both use the trick.

Still @Lurker will have to share his grand price with whoever is able to solve this riddle without using the trick.

I still have a feelings the guards will think im cheating and they will kill me :smirk:

  • @Mr-Ghost my solution after a few minutes of thinking about #2 would have been

but I wasn't so sure about why expiring serves. Then I looked. You might want to not include the solution in the riddle though to make it easier for ppl to not give in to their temptations :smiling_imp:

  • I have to tell you guys that honestly those riddles are dangerous for me. At least the ones that cannot be solved in a couple of minutes. The first time I tried to solve the "#1 two doors" riddle took me about 24 hours. I almost forgot to sleep and did not eat properly. I did nothing but think about the riddle. I get obsessed with these things, until I have some kind of solution.

That was years ago however, and maybe I have learned from it a little and stop thinking about it after an hour or so these days. Don't know. I liked @Mr.Ghost's "4 men, two hat colors" riddle from a few months ago, and I kept at it until I had the solution. Luckily it only took me 20 minutes
