I must respectfully disagree. The sound is generated by your thumb and finger you don't hear the sound until your finger hits your palm. This is due to the difference speed between the speed of light and the speed of sound.
If you watch someone that is 100 yards away swinging a hammer striking a board or piece of steel. Something makes noise you will see it long before you hear it.
And I may be wrong on this but the sound is actually generated from the friction between your thumb and finger causing vibrations and creating sound waves.
