When giving 100 ain't enough

  • Freedom Writers - Writing

It started out with the three of us,
spending most of our time hanging out,
    and we'd spout,
    out our thoughts and dreams,
and finding new meaning in things,
    and as time went by,
    we'd get more comfortable,
basically all living together and making it workable,
    and then one day,
    as you began to play,
    that game,
I saw you were getting competitive,
so I thought I'd be a helpful addition,
to give you a little mix up,
    as we'd fuck em' up,
but you gave me the cold shoulder,
and said I wasn't good enough,
and then left me to my own.

    Our friendship was long,
and I thought it was lasting,
but it appears there's been a casting,
    of hurt and remorse,
but that's OK I love my new course.

    I was hurt at first,
as I thought this was the worst,
    but we tried to talk,
    and thought you would listen,
explain to use it was just a game,
and thought you'd see it our way,
    but that never happens,
    it's always about you,
    and you're always the victim,
    we apparently crashed your dreams,
    and we were being obscene,
as we wouldn't bow down to you,
but you make it hard to see your view,
when your dream changes from day to day,
and it's like we're walking on egg shells,
    forgetting how to be ourselves,
    as we cater to you,
    and give and give,
    but we never get back,
    because like I said,
    it's always about you.

but it appears there's been a casting,
    of hurt and remorse,

    We were willing to forgive,
    we were willing to forget,
and we asked if the party,
at the beach would still be hearty,
    and we spent all day,
    baking you a cake,
but apparently that was a mistake,
    as you flaked out again,
    and decided to uninvite,
    and we thought there might,
    be a chance to salvage,
    but you managed,
    to push further away,
    and now you say,
    that we didn't apologize right,
but there's only so many ways,
    and so many things,
    we can do,
    for you,
    and give,
    we've apologized a thousand times,
    but you didn't realize,
because in your head if we don't give you a hundred,
    you get zero.

    There's been tears,
and we've had so many good years,
    but we've cried,
    too many times,
and we've tried in too many ways,
but you're welcome back to just hang,
    it won't be the same,
but we stopped caring long ago,
and if you ever do show,
    we won't care,
    we're over it,
    but because of you,
we know you're now home and alone,
    feeling cold,
    but that's your own fault,
    and we've tried to bring,
    you into the light,
    but that plight,
    ain't our fight,
    and I'd like to say,
    that we want you back,
    but honestly,
    since you've been gone,
it's been the best time of our life.
