@mASHter "I am going to America" is the correct one as it is singular but if you call Americas which is symbolizing both the continents north and south "the" should be used. I am going to the Americas.

Both are made up either multiple states (US) or multiple countries (UK) basically theyβre plural and we use THE in front of them. We wouldnβt say I am going to The Spain because itβs singular. (Also, it just sounds totally wrong). @mASHter

Lol, everybody is correct about the second version to be the right one. However everyone is wrong about the reason :joy:. The reason is the following:
"states" is a well known english noun in plural. So you are going to the states.
it's the same with the kingdom. You are going to the kingdom. Which one? The united kingdom.In contrast mexico, italy and germany are actual names, not names made up from common words of the english language.
