• @Anjalidevra Imma nalla paiyan ... U only Ketta Ponnuuuuu 😘

  • @Anjalidevra I do agree that science is some kind of religion for many people. The problem is that many do not understand what science really is. I wrote something a few days ago.

However this man really does not know what he is talking about.

Let's take physical constants: In the formula E=mc² the lightspeed constant (c) is applied and is used to compute how much energy (E) you can get out of a certain amount of matter (m) and vice versa (more or less the meaning of the formula, I'm sure a real scientist could explain it much better). All the mechanics of modern atomic plants run using mathematics that is based on this formular. If constants really did change, we would all be long dead.

Also if something we measure changes over time it's not some constant that changes. Instead we need to find a formula has different results at different points in time while the constant stays the same. That is just how mathematics work, that's the whole point of a constant. We arrived at today's constants by using ever better measurement techniques – thus not the constant changed but our measurements got more accurate. It definitely was the right decision to ban this talk.

None the less he at least referred to some real problems with todays science believers. For example it is very true, that science has no explanation for consciousness. Also scientists, who are materialists, (not all scientists are) say consciousness is only a product of the brain. And while it is certainly true that consciousness and memories are related to the brain (or else a hit to the head would not render you unconscious, and memory loss would not be inducible via chemicals) that does not mean that it is proven that there could not be more too it than that.

Science can only talk about the material world, that is its nature, and it's uncrossable limit. Science – as argued by some remarkable scientists – cannot even say anything about moral values.

  • @Alte actually, science has killed a lot of species, although they don't count as "people". Learn from your mistakes, science!

  • @Anjalidevra you cant mix science and religion girl. According to all of holy book in every religion, god created first human Adam and Eve. However for the science, monkey is the first anchestry of human. So?

For some of open-minded people, they believe that science is a new era for them to create a lot of breakthrough for this world,e. g. An expected perfect baby with high intellegence, surgery for face even your genital and your body, a perfect clonning for farm animals, etc. Meanwhile, according to our holy book from all of religion in every segment, god wants us to protect and keep this world to be better place for us even the animals and plants. So, you should make a detail before you bring this topic, since not all science are bad or good enough for us. The control is back to us..

  • Simply, no. Certainly science is becoming more predominant, but that's only because all academia is coming to the fore now that the West is drifting away from being utilitarian and working class. Look at it this way, what's the most important thing that science should be brought to bear on? Health care, right? Maybe house-building. Yet at the minute, it's just one big circle jerk between scientists and the media about -- outer space, electric cars, computers. The whole thing is embarrassing.

  • @Kakashi food chain, deal with it you green peace! 😂

Religions that are not based on Judaism, have another myths about humanity creation. In some holy books, there are a lot of gods. And other names of first humans.

And you forget about the Lilith

Yes. Indeed. But i talk about "da real religion" such as Christian, Muslim and Jews. Lilith and some others you mentioned above is based on myth then transformed to be "beliefs" or "faith" not a religion one boy.

  • @spaceboy Nimbus2000, just swipe them away like notifications on ur smartphone.

  • @spaceboy said in The Science Delusion:

So saying about "all of holy book in every religion" sounds not correctly.

So what am i supposed to say?

@Bela-Hella What magic wand is better? Apple or Samsung?

    Use a hella wand.. :-)

Just because we're at the top doesn't mean we "own" all other life on the planet. That only gives us responsibility to preserve them.

This convo might go into the vegan/non-vegetarian argument; if it does, my answer is that it's only fair that we eat other animals- we just do what we're supposed to do for our survival; it's not like we're gonna eat away entire species.

    Peace! :))

  • @Kakashi And how could we better do it of not use science to study them?

To be fair, the human genome project actually discovered that all human beings indeed have a comman human male ancestor. Adam is definitely real – in a way. Sadly I haven't heard anything about Eve. Maybe he had two wives, one human the other Neanderthal? :yum:

(Some human beings indeed have Neanderthal DNA btw.)
