I think pretty much everyone has been through an all nighter at some point or has had to finish up some work in the middle of the night giving you little to no sleep to go through the day.

If not f u you responsible freaking human being. 😒

Anyways, I have a serious procrastination problem. Like really really serious, which causes me to have quite a few 2 hours sleep nights. Consequently, if I don’t want to fall asleep and start snoring in the middle of my classes or at 3am when I need to study for a final the next day, I’ve developed quite a few techniques to keep my eyes open and my mind mostly active.

(ill now proceed to describe the dumb shit I do in too much detail so feel free to skip to the end it’s not that interesting)

The first one is probably the worst one and unfortunately I admit I do it way too often and it’s really fücking disgusting and hella bad for me.
I take spoonfuls of instant coffee.
Yeah I think I’ll need to give a quick tutorial to clearly explain this process:
1- Get yourself a glass of milk or water (milk helps with the taste tho)
2- Take like half a mouthful of the drink without swallowing
3- take a GOOD spoonful of instant coffee
4- put that shit in your mouth with the drink
5- wait a few seconds for it to dissolve a bit but of course all of it won’t dissolve in the cold drink
    6- brave yourself and swallow
    7- repeat 1 to 6 about 6 times.

All in all in a few spoonfuls you get the equivalent of 3 coffees without having it diluted.
Oh and did you know coffee can act as some sort of weak laxative in high concentration? Yup. :)

I did say it was disgusting. 😂

That’s technique n°1 now next up we got pouring water down your shirt. Now I wouldn’t exactly recommend doing this in public, but in some pretty dire situations like during an exam last year I had to use this technique or I would have started sleeping during the test.
Yup, a few people did notice me doing it and were weirded out but hey, at least it worked 🤷🏻‍♀️

Next up we got opening the window when it’s -25°C outside and you’re studying in your room. I’m not sure if cold is supposed to keep you awake, but it’s been working for me so 💯 would recommend.

Now this topics is long enough now and I could name a few more but I think I’ve shared enough of my dumb techniques for now.

So what about you lot? Got any tips on how to stay awake during dire situations?

I look into the mirror and scare myself. That way I get traumatized which would stop me from sleeping.

  • Look who we have here!
    @azriel

  • @tws-user said in How do you stay awake? ☕️:

The light from my paranoid neighbour's keeps me awake most nights. Cant close the window as it gets hot inside. Also, the light from the phone. Even after using it on night mode, cant sleep for atleast two hours after.

You could try wearing one of those eye patches who’s names I’ve forgotten XD
That’s unlucky.. I actually fall asleep way to often in the middle of checking my phone out, but you should really rest your eyes and read something boring before bed :p

I mean this, (why the hell cant I find the name of it XD) but really once you get used to the feeling of wearing it you don’t even notice it’s there and it never really comes off

  • To beloved @WtfJudith

You will hate me because of my preach coz meh put you in the corner rn, it is okay
I dont want to jump to the conclusion because you are the one who knows yourself very well

According to da research, several people have a difficulty to sleep because:

    1. They feel lonely
    2. They need affection but they dont get it
    3. They have depressed life
    4. They have very active brain
    5. They really love to do something in the night rather than in the morning (da owl person)
    6. They have something in their mind (serious problem)
    7. They have mental illness like alter ego, post traumatic stress disorder (i ever had such experience), anxiety disorder or moreover serious bipolar soul.
    8. They are too much consuming alcohol, cigarrete, medicine (drugs) even it is morphine or heroin, and cafein
      And the last
    9. They spent too much time using social media so they dont need the real life.

Which one are you? Dont post it in here coz it is your problem.

    My tips:

    1. Do excercise like walking in the morning with your cat or relaxing your body
    2. You should avoid da alcohol and cafein for a while (at least 2 weeks)
    3. Do not too much stress or thinking a lot about something. If you have a problem, share it to your friends (if needed) or if you cant, find something you love
    4. YOU NEED COMPANION
    5. YOU SHOULD BE DICIPLINE RN -_-
    6. Make a schedule about your sleeping time.

Judith it will be a serious thing if you cant handle it. According to health research, it will damage your heart also your kidney and liver. All of that system will be malfunction as soon as possible you will get leukemia 😭

I DONT WANNA YOU DIE ASAP. I WANT AT LEAST TO SEE YOU EVEN JUST ONCE. SO PLEASE STAY HEALTHY MY GIRL

@TWS-User ,I agree with what judi said use a "sleep mask" to cover eyes from light..This is better than shades on.. :relaxed:

  • @wtfjudith I prefer lemon, orange, fish and salty cheese (usually Feta) because they increase concentration while sugar level usually stay at normal level. It works amazing for me. And coffee with ice too. I used the window method too haha

  • @wtfjudith
If I feel sleepy and keeps on yawning but need to stay awake for impt. reason I usually eat dark chocolate(s ) preferably cocoa (tablea),then swallow 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar..

really disgusting but just an effective remedy for me,dunno for others

  • Movie Buff

TLDR means too long didn't read. I'm lazy.

Aren't you getting in a never ending cycle? I mean... you stay awake all night cuz u need to do shit and then take shitload of caffeine to keep yourself awake. When you actually do this the caffeine might still be in your system (due to the amount you took) so it's still keeping you awake and you don't manage to sleep and when it finally gets off your system you add more caffeine so you can last till night...
What you just described is indeed scary and brutal... I hope that you won't ruin yourself with those. But meh... I know it's easier said then done.

I am not a procrastinator so I rarely had to pull all nighters. When I had too milk with coffee would suffice. It was more like company then a need since sleeping was always something that I had troubles. A phone vibrating, a fly flying next to me, a squeak from the floor literally anything will make me wake up and I'll take hours to fall asleep. So I end up with little sleep all the time.

It's funny as I said I'm not a procrastinator but the only thing I procrastinate is getting to sleep. And yes that's why you often caught me online at 3-4 am talking with you 😁

It could happen like that but mostly the caffeine has the time to leave and the next night i sleep like a newborn baby :P

I know.. and I should definitely work on it 😬

You goddamn sensible human being 😣

Oh, well most of the times I'm 100% responsible for my lack of sleep, the only thing that wakes me up in the middle of the night is Pilou wanting me to scoot over to make room for his big fat self -_-

It's funny as I said I'm not a procrastinator but the only thing I procrastinate is getting to sleep. And yes that's why you often caught me online at 3-4 am talking with you 😁

It all makes sense now XD
