Great question, AS. The fear of strangers was non-existent when I was a kid. In the 80's Paedoing hadn't been invented yet. Wacko was just a beloved entertainer. Cosby, Rolf, Glitter, ditto. In the case of catfishing, you still had cougars and wideboys predating on you, but instead of your ยฃ, they were just after your eternal soul, which wasn't so bad.
It's good to talk to strangers. Better a stranger than a boring man-in-street schlub.
