Great question, AS. The fear of strangers was non-existent when I was a kid. In the 80's Paedoing hadn't been invented yet. Wacko was just a beloved entertainer. Cosby, Rolf, Glitter, ditto. In the case of catfishing, you still had cougars and wideboys predating on you, but instead of your Ā£, they were just after your eternal soul, which wasn't so bad.
It's good to talk to strangers. Better a stranger than a boring man-in-street schlub.
