Is intelligence important to you for making a friend?
-
I think to a certain extent yes, it becomes infuriating to talk to someone who is constantly ignorant, but it really depends on the persons' disposition as well. People who are smart and have a bad disposition are unlikely to have a lot of friends. People who aren't smart but always think they know everything are likely to have the same result. For me personally, as long as someone is making the effort to understand even if they don't really understand I'm okay being their friend as long as we are just talking intelligence wise.

Yes totally, I don’t talk to people who don’t meet the required intelligence level

I don't think so? I don't know but I think a sense of humour and being a good friend and having a decent conversations is enough to make friends. I lack sense of humour, that's why I only have few friends, some acquintances but that's it. I'm really envious of the other people who has that because they can easily have friends unlike me :'(.
Sorry for this, I think this is just my ranting -
@Chicken-meat I guess intelligence is important to an extent. I.E. I have really good friends that I play music with and who are loyal and quite fun and entertaining to be around. I don't think and I might be wrong on this that they would have the correct answer of a complex problem that would require a relatively high level of intelligence to correctly answer.
I also have a few extremely intelligent friends that are so profoundly intelligent they give me headaches trying to understand the meaning of what they have said.
It's too bad that intelligence doesn't come with the wisdom to use it wisely. Common sense just isn't very common any more. -
I'll go ahead and change the scope a bit: Is it important to have friends who are as intelligent as you? To this question I'd definitely answer with a yes. A rough one of course, no need to compare IQs... But I think it is very important to have people around who can understand you, or you'll kinda always feel lonely and not understood, no matter how many friends you have (who don't understand you). This of course can also happen if intelligence is there, but communication of what's important is not.
If you have friends like that, maybe even only one, then you're alright. All other friends can be dogs, cats and mountainlions @Zen00 :yum:, no need to match any intelligence standard.
The most important thing for me in a friend is trust. I need to be able to trust them. The more I can trust them, the deeper the friendship can be. To be trustworthy to me, you'd need to be confidential (e.g. never talk about my secrets, and that's that), you need to share some very important values with me, you need to be kind towards me and others, well and we should have something in common to do or talk about. Pretty simple actually, but hard to find.

I wasn't even offended. I just wanted to use this opportunity to post the video i had in mind for a long time.
The codeword was "bricks". -
@Karina-Kara didnt say u were offended, although now it sure seems like u were more offended than a liberal with purple hair at a trump rally, could have sworn u said did u assume "my" intelligence instead of "their". Nice song tho

@Chicken-meat
