Is it ethical to profit from people's misfortune?

  • Yeah. That's a fair criticism. I was reaching a bit.

  • In some darker communities (personal experience) some heroine and crack dealers genuinely have the best interests of customers at heart and are often out of pocket to supply everyone's fix. I knew one who saw himself as a doctor because he helped people who were beyond help from usual services. It's a fine line that zigzags a fair bit as well... But for anything else - if your country doesnt provide healthcare and you pay insurance then the government and doctors are all in it together to leave you out of pocket and feeling shit.
Much love to the NHS ❤️

  • Morality is relative to each person and there are numerous models out there that have their own sets of principles. On this premise this question has no definitive answer. In extension to that I do not know what moral principles you hold, therefore you must ask that question to yourself in a mirror: Do you as a person consider yourself good or evil, and with that do you think exploiting others is something that you consider ethical?
