I had a mini revelation when I was watching Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee. I felt my sole purpose to black civil rights was a contradictory to itself. How can I say I want my race to be treated like everybody else when my race was the only struggle I cared about?
Now this “All Lives Matter” talk is just talk; these people bring up other race’s struggles not to connect with you, but to tell you that the black struggle isn’t as important as other people struggle. They just want to distract you from the black struggle.
The true heart of the “All Lives Matter” movement is for each individual to look inside their own heart to dare to care for their fellow being. I ain’t gonna tell you to do what I do, just saying the choice is yours
Addiction and Habit
-
@Xavier lol, You've got all the time to think upon it!!
And I know you have a good mind for it.
Use it...… it won't hurt :D -
@GreyWind it will hurt, I haven't used it for some time lol
-
@GreyWind well something is said to be an/a habit after 66days(if you keep doing past 66days)
I'm addicted to smth tho
-
@Xavier Guess your mind is under lockdown too. 😁
-
@GreyWind yes exactly
-
@SpongeBobs-wife Did you feel habituated to that after or around 66 days?
-
@Xavier Here, have some Ludovico for your mind
-
@GreyWind In my opinion, addiction has to be purely dependent. Mainly because its the synonym of it but also because I think to consider it an addiction the user must also experience withdrawals when not using/doing.
So what I am trying to say is habits can lead to addiction, since that is how they typically start, but that doesn't mean that habits do lead to addiction. You can do something everyday without being addicted to it, you might just enjoy doing it! :)
-
@GreyWind yessss
-
@Bonnibel Alrighty! It means that habituation is a part of the process that leads to addiction, right?
-
@GreyWind yeah I believe so
-
@GreyWind Both grow out of routine behaviors. Every action has consequences, sometimes good sometimes bad. It's worth a reflecting on. Do we have unwanted behavior, bad habit or addiction? Should we keep doing it?
-
@kaia_ true
-
@doofmcsloop Yea.. Not all habit lead to addiction. It's natural that we always want to do more of things that feel good, right? I think we need to go back to how our brains evolved the ability to learn, in order to understand it :)
-
@kaia_ usually only the bad things are addictive, good things are much harder to become addicted to, like being nice to people ahahaha
-
@GreyWind i'm addicted to multiple different drugs but they're not a habit so like... yeah
-
@lostthatnight Differentiating between addictive substances and behavior? This is interesting 😃😊🙂
-
@kaia_ The long term outcomes or the far reaching consequences of some actions aren't well-thought before hand. It seems that these kinda actions could be the beginnings of forming a habit.
-
@kaia_ I recently saw a post on tws about guilty pleasures, the activities/things we know we shouldn't do but do it anyways coz they provide short-term pleasure - we feel good about it 😄. I believe that those too, when repeated could become a habit or addiction.
-
@GreyWind Do you have any idea how to change gears in the moment when tempted by a habit that doesn't serve best?
