Why do People Dance?

@Ladydoall30 Because it feels fucking good and makes us happy! There's definitely something primal to it, a lot of id being tapped into. Some music is just irresistible, like it's more in control of your body than you are. A good bit of funk or ska and i swear my ass is shaking without me knowing anything about it. It's definitely in the top 5 things for me along with love, nature, sex and music.

dancing is a language internationally recognised and praised. it brings communities and whole nations in synchronised, or, for those with two left feet, random pattern of joy. dance is the few elements of human life that brings clarity, joy, fitness into a world otherwise ruled by disorder and confusion. what makes dancing a long-lasting cause of enjoyment is that being a professional is not a necessity. it offers relief from a competitive life and we are free - nay, encouraged! - to let loose and let the music (which is our muse) channel into our body and electrify our bodies.

@Ladydoall30 True. Everyone's interest is different. As you said dance makes you happy. But for others it doesn't.

I don't like dancing and I never did. I never understood why people dance. What's about dancing? Why is everybody doing it? Why is it so universal??
