How did the person who invented the clock know what time it was?
-
im just gonna leave this out there lol
-
@idek2019 that's a good question 😂
Though i guess they took help from the sundial...which were sun powered clocks used in ancient times
-
@idek2019 @Goldengirl is very much on the right track.
Ancient and classical civilisations used the sun to do some amazing things including tell the time - for example Eratosthenes not only proved that the Earth was curved but near as damnit worked out its circumference over 2000 years ago simply from the shadows (or absence thereof) cast by two sticks in the ground, some walking, and applying mathematics.

@idek2019 that's easy, he went to.a bar after work, rolled in late and drunk and his wife told him EXACTLY WHAT FUCKING TIME IT WAS AND WHAT DID HE THINK HE WAS PLAYING AT?!!! 😁😁😁
-
@Sij spot on, one of the constructs humans came up with to make sense of it all. It works pretty well i think, otherwise how would you know when to go to your mum's house for dinner? 😁
-
Yep, they simply looked up at the sun.
