Hard to tell.
Based on the oldest civilations known to humans, their written language was symbol based. Like runes. Or even cuneiform could be it.
They taught the humans everything they needed to know. Including their language.
The language of the "gods".
They treated the first humans like slaves.
So worshipping them wouldn't be very wise.
