RE: HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020🍥🍥🍥
Are you SURE Evolution isn't a fraud? Are you SURE Charles Darwin wasn't just an auld tramp who hung around by the bins in the alleyway outside the Victorian Science Club, making stuff up to get a free lunch? After all, science says the simplest explanation is probably the one that's true. Just sayen.

RE: Unrequited love ...is it a thing?
@Lurker Thanx for the story, L. You say you're a weird human, but your 'defense that simply doesn't let me develop feelings' --I thought that was the natural default which (rightly or wrongly) most people's emotions operate by? For sure (in my opinion) it's not something you need obsess over. It's never been about emotional second-guessing for me: Love (like 'life' in Jurassic Park) will find a way.
Oh, and I can TOTALLY relate to the texting urge. I was with my girlfriend when texting first started as a concept, so it's especially ingrained with me. I just think how ...eerie... it would be for me to text her. Like the eeriest thing in the world. I'm not even joking. Like a piece of performance art that no one could quite explain, Like that bit in Mel Gibson 'Signs' when Jaoquin Pheonix is watching TV, sees a Martian and freaks out on some kinda existential level: that's the vibe I'd feel the split second after I'd hit 'Send'.

RE: My favourite place to be.
Did evolution put them there to scare off cave monsters?

RE: Designer Handbags
As a bloke, forever en thrall to poncey watches and leather jackets, I think it would be THE HEIGHT of hypocrisy me to criticize the lasses in their pursuit of the perfect handbag. For all we know they might have the magical properties of Felix the Cat's ruc sac, or Harpo Marx' coat, wherein they're bigger on the inside than the outside and contain UNKNOWN WONDERS.

RE: Unrequited love ...is it a thing?
@TheGoldenMole said in Unrequited love ...is it a thing?:
Apart of the interest is knowing that they are interested in me
You said a true thing there.
...and, thanks for telling me such an intimate story, GM. Sounds like you've been through a right double-thinky chess game. Respect Due.

RE: What's something you spend way too much time on?
Believing that human morality will somehow right itself and civilization isn't doomed to explode and get rubbed all round the Devil's jacksy.

Does it annoy you when people wear fancy dress astronaut costumes, but still have exposed bits of flesh?
Does it annoy you when people wear fancy dress astronaut costumes, but still have exposed bits of flesh? Eh?
I know they're not really going into space but, look, you could at least try to take the concept seriously. Look at these women. They'd last approximately 1 second in the freezing vacuum of space. These are strong, intelligent women. We shouldn't have to worry about nerd scientists laughing at them.

RE: Unrequited love ...is it a thing?
@Wolfie_11 So, prior to the girl telling you she was in love with some other punter, you used to just ..daydream... about her? That doesn't sound too bad. Maybe that's all love is? A kind of extended daydream, WHICH JUST HAPPENS, ON SOME RARE OCCASIONS, to synch up with someone else's life? We've cracked it, old sun. Split the takings 50 / 50 at our psychiatry booth?

Noyce. That's some archtypal imagery. And he's got a Bruce Lee vibe.

RE: What God deserves!
I've always thought it's very, very telling that the two most well-known atheists (Dawkins and Hitchens RIP) were people getting rich off the academic raconteur circuit. If God is so unnecessary, it should be plain to see, and the first people to see it would be working class people, not rich, lazy old C's.
But I get what you're saying. I know that the whole thing is epitomized in 'Consider the lilies', but I do think Jesus should have put more of an emphasis on God being the only sensible option, not compared to what we could get in Heaven, but compared to the alternative we've got at the moment. What other choice have we got? Fall in with capitalism? It should be like the end of 'The Thing'. Kurt Russell and that other lad, and just 'Let's see what happens'.
