Injured

Injured mind says the doctor
Injured perspective said the greek
Skewed paradigms says the power
Skewed expectations says society

Whom do we trust to tell us we're broken
How should one determine if one is so
One man to another knocks an arrow
Made from injured bark of a tree, a willow
Made from life, a weapon
Bestowed upon us all
How should we use it?
To kill one another and fall

We are injured by design
Seperate yet powerful
Uniqueness comes with difference
Which then we chose to resign

How do we conclude
Knowing each one of us is broken?
Acceptance comes with greatness
And greatness comes from the mind

The Coat

The winding streets within the night
The bright morning day over no dark city,
The folds and creases within the fabric,
That shroud which was worn by far too many

Let alone what shall remain
Keep the figure from all that lives
Keep your secrets and please refrain
From taking that which always gives

Mysterious clouds above the sky
Ask the figure, why oh why
Standing there, in a coat distorted
Standing by to shriek and cry

But I know of the stories told
I have seen them all unfold
With many tears the people shed
Night to day they rest in bed

Far from him they choose to be
Keeping far from grasp they seek
That poisonous coat which leeches souls
Those eyes which are two pits of coal
Those eyes which contain but two black holes
The coat worn by many, my life it stole

Who am I?

Who am I?
The one who stumbles upon a moonlight
To seek a final answer to the question
Am I right?

Do I do enough to catch myself
To fall from great heights of madness
Place my troubles on a high enough shelf,
And escape my indifference in sadness?

How naive I must be to complete the only thing that makes me...me
The choices that I flee to counteract my effortless pleas for forgiveness,
as I speak the word please?
I shout with my lungs the phrase of glee
How must I be,
And how do I ask the question,
Who am I?
Me?

But what does that mean?
Sure I must be far from clean
But am I so terrible?
Could I be so unbearable?
The voices in my head that tell me I am unforgiving, horrible, a cloak of darkness, unwearable?

Grammatical dystrophy fixes the mental distance I create in me,
For I have allowed the thoughts of calamity to dull the empty pain that I can feel deep inside of me.
What I do with this dull throb is up to me to do with what I please
To the thoughts that never cease to uphold any of my pleas
I shout to the top of the sky,
I will happily demolish any darkness with ease.

I'm darker so lighter colors make nice contrast I suppose.

@Equinox Last time I was active on this website, I was only 18 years old and I've of course had quite a lot of experiences since then. The entirety of the pandemic happened between me being active here and me coming back. Strange times.

It's been nearly an entire year since i've last logged in here, and almost 2 years since i've been active. I left primarily because I moved on from TWS and saw a lot of awesome people eventually depart as well, I guess that's just how this site works. People come here looking for something, find it, and eventually leave.

Your poem was really good dude!
I'm a huge fan of imagery and I think you nailed that one here. One thing i say that may help is changing up the rhyme scheme within the poem itself, which is completely legal! It produces some cool effects in some cases, and may help in this specific case.

The everlasting star, burning bright
Shining so beautiful with all its might
We stray from the dark,
as it frightens our being
But the most powerful of stars
Is seen best in the night

We fight, we strive to find our purpose
We say we are clay, or atoms, stardust
But relishing in our sun
Is an absolute must

No matter religion, or thinking mind,
Or passion and kind,
Or space and time

We all go back to our wandering star
drifting in space
Provision of grace
