So a little over a month ago, I found this tiny budgie chilling in my garden. Because of our super cold winters I knew she wouldn’t survive long outside so I spent two hours trying to catch her and after almost giving up, I finally got her into my dogs cage XD
Initially I really had no intention to keep her, since I've never taken care of a bird and had no clue where to even start. We knocked on all the neighbour’s doors, I called animal control to give them her description and sent pictures to my local SPCA, but no one was looking for her.
Then the animal control people told me we could drive her there, but that they thought it might be too risky and stressful for them to keep her with all the other animals.So the next morning, I made up my mind, walked to my local pet store and started the process of buying all the bird supplies she would need, and godamn I had no idea just how expensive it was all gonna be 😂
Just her cage was over 250$ 🥲
But it was all worth it cause just as im typing this rn shes sitting on my shoulder and playing with my hair and I already love her so much 🥰
Also her favourite thing rn is to fly to my face with 0 warning and scaring the shit out of me

@wtfjudith I like that u kept door of cage opened. That is a love bird and they r pretty domestic a lot people in here have them as pet. I didn't like that they keep them I'm cage. I was actually gonna make a negative comment complaining u found a bird and then u caged it. But u didn't. Good work 👍.

@wtfjudith lol just saw the video. Seems like she is dominating u 😂😂

Aren’t these love birds?
I think budgies and love birds are both species of parrots, but budgies originate from Australia and are used to a pretty warm climateI also felt bad for putting her in a cage at first. But when I was in my garden catching her, she was supper obsessed with the seeds i was using to lure her and the poor thing looked like she was starving outside 🥺 plus after a while I had noticed that her calls were attracting these huge crows that started circling my garden 😳 not sure what they would have done to her had she stayed outside any longer
For the first week she was pretty nervous and even with the cage door open refused to come out, but she warmed up to me now and shes got free roam to fly around my whole room now

@wtfjudith I'm pretty sure I have seen birds like Juno irl the owners of them told me they love birds. Ugh maybe they were not aware too or just tell me that to avoid explaining.
Poor lil birdy train her to fight with those crows. It reminds me once a kingfisher rushed into my home to hide from a group of aggressive crows. He was so active and wild we could pet him so we release him in few hours. Crows were still outside. After that idk what happens with him he wasn't dead fo sure. I was so little I wanted to make him pet.
And then an year ago another group of crows picking up with a peaceful owl. He was chilling in a coconut tree but in day time owls r vulnerable I suppose that's y he was not flying or maybe he was juvenile and too scared to fly. At evening when things got cool down he flew to a corner of a building and wait to get draw then then he vanished in morning when I woke up.
In short crows dick to other birds -
cutie bird, give pat for me

@WtfJudith Isn't that the same specie as Parakeets? Love the pics, btw.
-
@wtfjudith it's beautiful!!! The video was hilarious lol. The bird's really pretty and what u did for it is wholesome. This post literally made my day. You both are lovely!!!

@spookysweetkin
True. Now I envy her coz she took steps forward to help an animal in need. I got few opportunities to do same but I was nervous and ended up feeling sad for them and move on. 😩 -
@ash33 atleast you tried! Some don't even try to or think of it. You felt sad cuz you cared. So. Next time just embrace the moment and keep up with it!
-
@spookysweetkin thing is I can't do it. I'm terrible at managing time. So I'm afraid if I can't take proper care of it.
-
@ash33 yeah I have heard that time management thing a lot. But it's not your fault either. So don't feel bad about it either. Considering about it too is also good enough

Yeah and apparently Crows are meant to be as intelligent as a 5yo, but man are they evil sometimes

But taking in an animal is a huge responsibility and if you don’t think you have the time or energy to do so, then theres nothing wrong with that 🤷♀️
Its better than impulsively getting a pet and then neglecting them -

Tho I'm thinking buying some guppies or small and low maintenance fish. -
@wtfjudith
I release them back where they belong. It attacks you because it wants you to die so it can fly back to Afrika.
