Not necessarily. The relationship could work, regardless of age. Probably, the aspect to be evaluated would be that linked to the prejudices of society. In fact, if in the world of celebrities you hear about it frequently and the taboo now appears cleared through customs, the same is not true in the everyday world, where relationships with the older woman tend to arouse suspicion about the actual sentimental involvement of the younger man. When she is older than him, the instinctive reaction is one of distrust, and this happens due to social conditioning, primarily the stereotypical roles of the female and male within the couple. He strong and protective, she weak and in need of care.

@Devriar yes it matters a lot when the gap is large cuz there are lot of places where both of yours understanding will not be same and the boy may feel like the girl is ignoring things what he likes or later in the relationship the boy will realize that the girl's interests r quite different as she is too older than the boy . Better not to have large age gaps . If u r mature enough to equal ur understanding with hers then it may work ?
