Beauty does lie in the eyes of the beholder.
People attach their thoughts, memories, feelings to things, people etc.
Things or people which remind them of the good are beautiful to the person while ones which bring out bad are ugly.
A really ugly child while ugly to the world will still be the most beautiful thing to his mother, whereas a guy whose girlfriend broke up with him at the most beautiful place will find that place ugly.
