I've been working on my English skills for quite a while now but am far from being fluent in it. I tried getting rid of my accent many many times and am now able to sound more American than German when speaking English. My big goal is to get a British accent. But sometimes when I speak English you can hear a bit of my German coming through.
Since everybody thinks that it's the most ugly language ever, I was wondering if a bit of that accent is really that bad. I'm pretty insecure about it.
I'm really sorry for any mistake I just made in that weird text ^^

You know what, thats bullshit.
Accents are so cool and having an american accent doesnt mean youre fluent in english or whatever.
Both are two different things (Accent and Fluency)Since everybody thinks that it's the most ugly language ever, I was wondering if a bit of that accent is really that bad. I'm pretty insecure about it.
Whoever thinks that is stupid and weird..because apparently a language cannot be ugly lol.
And having an accent is nice.
I have an indian accent and i like it because we speak water as water....and not as WOTAH! or WOTERRR ,LMFAO.I'm really sorry for any mistake I just made in that weird text ^^

@franziska Hi there, well I am British (and have a Southern British accent) and to be honest with you, if we could swap accent's then I'd be at the front of the cue.
I see why people of the world might think that the German accent is ugly (as you put it, but personally I like how it is slightly domineering. When the native tongue is spoken, for me an outsider, it has a certain panache, a ... not sure how to say ... definitive tone to it. (that's not how I want to express it, but it's the only way I can come up with).
Despite what may have happened generations ago, be proud of your heritage, be proud of your nation but most of all, be proud of yourself ;) -

you are so right with that. We owe the world more than most other countries put together throughout history. Not just to India.

@sup Dude, we took over an pillaged countless countries and land masses over the world. We sent our criminals to the opposite side of the world so they were punished??. We dominated the high seas for so so long the mind boggles, and now.... now we decide to stand on our own two feet again... we expect help form other nations... lmao at my natives for thinking things could be that easy

@franziska if you live in the US, just about everyone has an accent, doesn't matter where you go. Just embrace it, it's on ok try to speak more English but don't worry about the accent. Even USA raised Americans have an accent from their area. So southerners have their own, Texas has its own, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, PA, and Illinois has the same accent, then the eastern coast has its own and the west has its own. So don't worry about it

@sup It's a mistake to judge the past with the eyes of the present. We must know our historical legacy, understand it and accept it, in order not to incur the same mistakes as our ancestors, but it's an injustice that you force a person to take charge of a crime he didn't commit.
The England of now is no longer the same England that colonized India, just as the Germany of now is no longer the same Germany that sent 11 million Jews to concentration camps.
You have every right to feel outraged, incensed by all the hardships your nation had to go through, but it doesn't make any sense to call to account now for a conflict that was solved last century.

Its not that bad. I like accents. Every one can have there own opinion on things. Just enjoy the person u are.

I feel you, I'm also very self conscious of my accent... some notice it some others don't, but I simply dislike it. I think in the end it's all a matter of taste. I personally like that english can come in so many accents depending on your mother tongue, so...
HELL NO, it's not a bad thing, makes you unique to say the least!Well said girl!

Before writing all of that please read what I said again.
I didn't mock him and his people who have no relation to what their ancestors did to many countries. -
