Promises: meant to be broken or for keeps?

Have you keep a promise or broke a promise? What are your thoughts about promises? Each promise kept, counts and increase the faith people have in us. Promises are meant not to be broken, though a lot of times they are broken.

I'm a man of word, I will go as far as I can to make it. For me promises aren't meant to be taken lightly, so I go as far as I can and sometimes can't to get the promise done. So If I ever make a promise, I will keep it for sure!

@bela promise is a big thing to make to someone, so one should think very carefully before doin that. I'm actually scared to make them due to the fear of breakin them and i know how much it hurts when someone breaks the promise they made to me. I dont remember makin or breakin promises in the past but i might have, m not perfect

@bela When I was younger I went throught a phase of making promises, not understanding the magnitude of what I was saying. In the younger years you just kind of think its a mwethod to get your own way.
Fortunatly I also learnt at that young age that promises were not made as a route to achieveing what you desired and they were not made to be broken.
For me a promiose had the same validity as marridge vows..... Something (for the given situation) that is made ... for a lifetime.
You do get the times when earthly things intervine and cause promises to be broken, but these are out of our conrol.I ,thesedays, prefere not to make a shallow promise.
I don't believe that you should make a promise if there is a known chance or likelyhood that you will not be able to keep it.It's better to have nothing to break than to break what is ultimatly trust.

@bela I am back on tws! haha 😂 there is a saying that promises are meant to be broken and so I believe that when you make promises it will be broken eventually, thats why I don't like making promises and seldom made one which I actually broke because I was just forced to make one.. kumusta kana girl?? whats going on bebe? hahaha

A wise man would say all promises are made to be broken, same as every life is to end.... but the fools who live with the reckless and young hearts say promises are eternal, and do so with a smile.
Be either snail in the shell, locked in safe darkness till the end takes you, or the slug willing to see the light of the world at the risk of it ending at any time in darkness. One would say they are the same conclusion.... others disagree. I find myself wanting to be on the side of youthful optimism and say they are for keeps. May my scars never stop me from being young.
