What do you hear ?
Yanny or Laurel
A recent internet argument which is actually crazy! Here's the link:
A computer-generated voice has become perhaps the most divisive subject on the internet since the gold/blue dress of 2015. It's one word, but the source of furious disagreement is which one. Is it Laurel – or Yanny?
I clearly hear Yanny. No matter how many times I listen to this...its still Yanny for me.
Twitter polls says that
47% of the people heard yanny
AND
53% heard Laurel -
@sup Its so clearly Laurel. I can't even figure out how can someone even hear Yanny. Its a clear Laurel.
mehh such a good illusion though. Love it. -

Yea that is the reason it is such a good illusion lmao.
They can be seen in two ways, and often the mind flips back and forth between the two interpretations. This happens because the brain can’t decide on a definitive interpretation.
If there is little ambiguity, the brain locks on to a single perceptual interpretation. Here, the Yanny/Laurel sound is meant to be ambiguous because each sound has a similar timing and energy content – so in principle it’s confusable.
All of this goes to highlight just how much the brain is an active interpreter of sensory input, and thus that the external world is less objective than we like to believe.(source: The guardian)

-
@sup I have old ears.
-
Is this a joke hhahahahaa
-
@sup dude, this is a problem. When I hear it on my laptop, I hear "laurel" and when I hear it on my phone, I hear "Yanny" and sometimes "Laurel" in between. And some times, "Yanny" sounds "Yammy" to me.
Ughhh wtf I am confused. -

Its an illusion. What do you hear XD?
-
@rendezvous I think it is related to pitch in some way. Dont know.
-
My mom hears “Yanny” but I hear both at different times but I hear “Yanny” sometimes more than “Laurel”. Or I hear “Yanrel” or “lanny”
-
@sup Yes, Its because both the words have almost same frequencies and consequently same energy. And consequently, almost same pitch.
-
@sup i hear moral at first, but after so many times it became laurel 😁
-
I HEAR BOTH DF
First I hear Yanny, then, Laurel.
