The past, very, very far in the past. In my opinion, the world is sending itself to Hell in a pink, bow-tied handbasket and it will only worsen, by alot, before it gets better.

So, I'd choose past.

@ragnar neither simple as that, going back to the past, might change everything in the present and the future either bad or good or both even and going to the future and knowing everything was going to happen later on, might want you to change the things you didn't like what you saw or whatever and will completely change the future you once saw. In both scenario there's always a catch. I believe everything happens for a reason. 😊
