• Well... for those who care hey! I'm back!

Now, I decided to make a topic to check who is still around and who's not and I couldn't just do a random meme topic so I'm actually gonna write about something!

First of all, where the FRICK are my emotes?! Wtf is this ._.

    Now... the topic:
Is it ok to be mad at someone that promised to do certain things for us that is deemed impossible?

    Imagine this scenario:
You wanna fly and someone that is your friend says "don't worry I promise that I'll make you grow wings". You know that's not possible so you tell them they shouldn't promise something they can't keep and they ignore it and still say that I shouldn't worry about it as they will do it no matter what. When you realize they can't do it you get mad at them.

    Is this acceptable or unreasonable?

  • Acceptable.

Also totally awesome if they somehow surprise you with the impossible and leave you looking like a dick (because hypothetically they are a mad wing-growing scientist in your scenario, for example).

    Also2, nice tags.

  • @Lurker , unreasonable and that person should know that the impossible can’t be delivered. It’s sweet someone wishes they could do that for you but honestly you should know better. Don’t be angry at your friend for not delivering.

  • @Lurker , ALSO, YAYYYYY, YOURE BACK! WELCOME BACK!!!

Yeah. That would have been awesome indeed but wouldn't hurt as much cuz I wouldn't start to believe in the impossible!

I got angry at the said friend cuz making me believe the impossible can be delivered made me believe in the impossible and that got shattered, once again making it extra painful for no reason.

  • @Lurker I'd have to say it's a bit of both. Anger is often a product of some thing or someone, or some situation that is unreasonable. Action - reaction. So long as that anger doesn't overwhelm or consume. It's degree and discretion. Choose wisely. Just an opinion.

  • @Lurker Seems plausible that you may be feeling more anger towards yourself for believing, than directed at your friend for promising. Just a thought.

Nah, I wouldn't say so. My sorrow comes from the fact that I knew it wasn't possible but the said person only did it to make me hear what I wanted to avoid facing the truth, to some extent.

  • @Lurker Fair enough. I took a shot, and it was just an opinion, and speculation based on only what you told, here. Good you've got a grip on it. Stay well

  • I missed you...
    this much

  • @Lurker , I guess I’m just a realist and have very little faith in most people. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @Lurker Totally acceptable! A promise is a promise, from what I've experienced many people are pretty casual about making promises, however, this casual attitude can have real consequences. I mean obviously the world isn’t going to come to an end if you break a promise especially for a thing which is impossible to return but if you can’t keep a promise, don’t make it! A broken promise implies that the person either didn’t think before making the promise or don’t care that they’ve let you down so getting angry over this fact is totally reasonable.

    Welcome back!

I've lost most of the faith in people nowadays :p

    @Anastasia-Smith

Exacly my thought! On top of that, I don't need to hope and believe if the person don't promise me... Oh well I get that the intention is good but the outcome is rather bad
