How do u prevent procrastinating?
-
So I recently found that I tend to procrastinate more when I get overwhelmed by list of tasks I want to finish or a lot things r going in my mind.
I thought to watch some reels or yt video before starting but then I spent more than I want time on scrolling then get tired of doing tasks.
Why do u procrastinate? (if u do it) .
And did u find way to prevent it? -
I have lots of thoughts on this but will answer later.

I see what you did there.....

@Hii33 IDK if anyone has the answer to the end of procrastination. I still procrastinate somethings. My advice....

I follow two ways:
1) EAT THE UGLIEST FROG FIRST (Do the most draining/difficult task first)
2) IF SOMETHING TAKES LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, DO IT INSTANTLY (Giving someone a call back/replying to an email) -
@sup
Oh I see, u read "eat that frog" book. I stopped reading it after introduction π -
@Janet
Lol it's actually a hard thing for me. But I do my best to finish tasks which makes me feel I did something today π -

I procrastinate cause i dont want experience hell right away and no, i did not find away through it.
-
@sup
Yeah it was main idea. Eat ugliest frog (do hardest task) on beginning on the day. -
I procrastinate for the same reasons. When one task is very big and gets overwhelming, what I know helps me is dividing it into doable portions. And then the hardest part, do a little portion and pat yourself on the back that you did the little portion and just go for the next little portion! And don't forget to be kind to yourself throughout the process!! It's the critic inside me that makes it overwhelming in the first place...
So basically, start somewhere small and reward yourself for a job well done, even if it seems like you barely did anything and the pile still seems big! (with kindness/some fun activity/an actual gift)

i might tell you later

The problem with your advice is that the "reward yourself" part lasts 23 hours and 59 minutes for most of us

@Rasengun33 I keep procrastinating things till the last day to finish it arrives.... And then I complete all my tasks at the last moment π.... It feels more fun when doing under pressure... And also very less time is used. And I get to enjoy the previous few days while procrastinating those tasks π

@NothingnessR05
This kind of habit is not good for long run.
How would u do work or task with no deadlines?
Imo we don't give much importance to our personal tasks. Like working on a hobby or making plans for next 5 years.
Doing work under pressure is something which is beneficial to others. Coz our deadline r most of the time set by others.
That's y this is important topic to brainstorm on it.
I have many tasks without deadlines. -
@Eucalyptus
Yeah I agreed. Watching a big task is like watch the top of mountain from the base of it. We can't climb it in a one step. It is gigantic.
But if we keep track on small steps. And divide big task in to small processes then we have something to see in our check list checked. Then we will know what we r doing.
And ig that's important. Taking a step forward in a day.
Ans that's something to reward worthy. -
@sup yeah spending less time in celebration is important too π
-
@Rasengun33 well, i don't actually have much of my own things to do other than killing time by reading one novel after another..... And I still think that life is meaningless anyways.... So i rather try to spend as much time reading or mostly give company to my family, cuz it's a fact that other than them. Nobody really cares anyways π€·πΌββοΈ

@NothingnessR05
Oh then u could manage time to read novels and will have free time for trying other stuffs too. -
This has been a big issue all my life. I actually procrastinated replying to this post - left it in a background tab for a while. However, I find that I'll always attempt to get things done, eventually, right before the deadline.
When there is a deadline, at least.
