modern technology is it creating lonelyness

Why in a world more crowded than ever do we have more bored lonely people than ever. Could it be because connected to the world by internet there still sitting in a room alone?

I'm sure there were ppl that felt lonely before internet was created, you simply weren't aware of them cuz well... they didn't have TWS to complain about it
