I have 3 cats and 2 dogs. Dogs require lots more attention, but they do protect me from the bears and mountain lions where I live. They tend to want to hang out and just get love all day too. My cats are good hunters as well, we have no rat problems anymore. Cats tend to just do their own thing which I appreciate. I can't say one is better than the other, they both have their advantages. They are just different.

Cat think that they are superior however pound per pound the dog (as long as it is not deterred by the first scratch) can easily kill the cat with 1 bite. As a general rule dogs display more intelligence. This is not to say that cats are not intelligent because they are. In fact they are so intelligent they can't be bothered by our human request for them to show any....
If everyone had the heart of a dog the world would be a better place.
