How can you air travel with a dog?

It depends entirely on where you go and which airline you choose. Some countries require you to get your pet innoculated before they will allow it in. If you fail to follow those rules (they can be very exacting about when health checks and take place and what innoculations are given when) your pet will end up in isolation for as much as 6 months. It is possible that the requirements mean your own vet cannot (must not) do the injections. Don't even think of smuggling; that can be a death warrant for your pet.

Most airlines require the pet to be in a crate which is placed in the hold. By the time you've checked the pet in, then gone to your checkin, completed formalities, flown, collected your luggage and collected your pet your 1 hour flight can turn into a 5 hour experience for your pet.

It's all doable but you really need to do your homework and then consider if you want to put your pet through the wringer.

If the dog is small, less than 15 or 16 pounds, small enough to stand up and turn around in a soft carrier that fits under the seat in front of you, the dog can ride with you in the cabin. Make sure you inform the airline that you are carrying a dog when you book your seat, because there is a limit to the number of companion animals allowed on any flight.

Well, there is quite a long list. I would even say that you will need to have a chacklist depending on the vehicle. Simply start with having an appointment with the veterinarian and check out this great resource for mentioned checklists https://petonbed.com/how-to-make-traveling-with-your-dogs-easy-and-exciting/ I`m pretty sure you will find lots of useful information there.
