That is absolutely false he played it because it was popular. He didn't make it popular himself. It was well popular before him. Sure, he probably added to its popularity, but it was definitely popular before him.

"Despite being overwhelmingly popular, the game actually spent most of its life in obscurity. It was released mid 2013 and was only popular for about 3 weeks before it was taken down."

    Coincidence? I think not! :joy:

They were killing because they wanted to have a higher score. It wasn't about wanting to play, it was about wanting to be the best.

There are so many Iteration of the same game with a different skin... How come those are still up there and this isn't? I think the popularity of the game made ppl obsess over it.

@TheGoldenMole said in Can one person make a difference?:

Yes, they would, that's what addiction is.

I think this is a case of unhealthy obssession and not addiction. Tho gaming was always on that limbo, there were many stories of people ruining their life because of World of Warcraft...

But the whole point of my comment was about 1 person being able to make a big enough difference :joy:

here is a whole timeline, it skyrocketed in early January about a week or two before Pewdiepie put his video about it up. It was popular before his video.

Quality and awareness. That's why people don't play the other ones.

UNHEALTHY OBESSESSION IS LIKE THE DEFINITION OF ADDICTION

Yes, and it was almost well said, but your point is all I wanted so it is still appreciated

I am not sure about what i'm about to say, but I believed he streamed the game and then did a video about it, stream was prior to the video and that's how it skyrocketed. There's a channel about gaming theories that touched that subject, they know much more about it then I do :joy:

Uhm, but the game was dated from 2013, it would make sense games in 2019 would have more "quality" and what kind of quality can we expect from such a simple game? :p As for awareness... obssessive people don't really have that :p

I can safely say i'm addicted to fitness and gyming and it's not an unhealthy obssession. There are healthy obssessions too :p

  • @Lurker Then you're assuming he made it popular, you don't really know.
Just because it is 2019 doesn't mean people have made versions in better quality, also, its 2019, by now its just old news.
You like the gym, you're not addicted to it. If so it would be taking over your life and you'd go through serious withdrawals when you don't do it. I don't think you know the difference between addiction and enjoying an activity. As you don't know the difference between a game in its prime and in its fall. I am done talking to you about this because you sound like you're talking out your elbow and to continue would be like having a conversation with a toddler about dragons, only difference is that would be more entertaining and less disappointing.

  • @TheGoldenMole

    Whatever floats your boat :joy:

  • I don't believe for a moment, that the differences we actually see being made by people, are the only changes that happen. Our world is intensely complicated and interconnected. I don't even believe that the changes we can actually discern are the important ones. By making a difference, we usually not just mean doing something that leaves a mark, we mean changing something for the better.

And I believe if you – yes you – get your act together, and become the best version of yourself, that you can be, that will make a difference. First only to you, but over time you will see changes too in the people around you. Maybe you inspire them, maybe your change forces them to change too, or maybe it just happens. But you'll see changes, slowly accumulating. And those – bear in mind – are only the ones you can see in this immensely complex world.

I don't just believe you can make a difference, I believe that these kinds of changes, that are very very hard to gauge in terms of impact, are the actually good changes, those that really change the world for the better, not the big ones (facebook, iphone, you name it).

  • @lego-batman wow... this was kind of inspiring!

Why thank you, it means quite something to me, if people really are inspired. Real change is not about a moment of inspiration, and what you do afterwards, it's the things you do every day, that will make a difference in the end, for the better or the worse. Time is the most valueable thing we have, so chose whisely what to do with yours.
