@nunu23 That is a good question. Why doesn't he just say it? I certainly prefer direct people but many people are not direct. I have 2 options for you, that came to mind right now:
He is scared. He might be scared of being let go. He might be scared of what you might say if he dumps you. He might be scared of being hated by you. He could easily be scared about both continueing a relationship that and about ending it.
He feels guilty. He feels guilty about his reaction, because it's just some DVDs and yet he might be hurt because you did not care about his DVDs (thus about him). And then he waited too long. That's a problem I have too. I wait too long and then saying anything feels really awkward and I just can't bring myself to say it anymore.
If you want my advice: you should do what you would wish him to do: be direct and say "I don't want to spend my time feeling crappy because of you" and return his DVDs somehow. Be direct, end it. Would certainly make you sympathetic too me. Your question suggests you would not be too unhappy about it.

@Zen00 Science does not prove because all science can do is create theories and disprove them. That's just its nature. Proving something is not part of the deal. What people actually believe in when they think they believe in science is the current consensus of the scientists.
Even though I "believe" in evolution I want to add that there are arguments against it. To name one: Suddenly: Trees. Trees just popped up in a super short timeframe – way faster than our understanding of evolution would imply (of course our understanding might be wrong). Another one is the fact that in super short lived organisms – mayflys – evolution should be happening in an observable way when you put them into a specific environment for long enough – but it doesn't, the studies have been done. Again this indicates that our understanding of evolution might be wrong.
There is however a bigger mystery: Everyone knows DNA. But DNA is suuuuuper complex. Science has no explanation for why some carbon molecules would ever have arranged themselves in anything resembling DNA. "It just happened somehow" is the best explanation we have – and that is no explanation at all.
Well and of course there is the biggest mystery: Why is there anything at all? Let me make the paradox tangible:
Take a bike. Say I borrowed it from you. You borroed it from @Bela-Hella. @Bela-Hella borrowed it from @Adyyan who borrowed it from @Mr-Ghost who borrowed it from @DarkIce who borrowed it from @SoFa_king_Cody who borrowed it from @Kakashi who borrowed it from @Alte... You get the idea. Now assume that this chain goes on forever. It explains why I have the bike now and you had it before me. But it does not explain where the bike came from and it does not explain why there is a chain in the first place.
So to be honest I believe that life is just way too amazing, way too specific and way too complex to have just happened – just like the guy who found DNA: his research converted him into a believer. Also I believe in rationality and that chain just needs a reason to exist if we are not going to throw logic overboard (though it is certainly possible that our mind's logic is not able to comprehend existence). So what I believe is that there was evolution and that evolution was directed.

Yeah the face is not everything, especially because people tend to try to hide their real feelings. But the closer you get to your own emotions the clearer you just get the feeling of the other person.
Maybe we should start a social network that rewards anonymity in name/age/looks but focuses on being real in all the ways where it really matters...
Topics become interesting if enough people contribute. To get people to contribute requires getting people to notice first. I only have 2 followers so I fear that what I write won't get noticed. I wonder if that's just my insecurity talking?
@moonchild02 I would feel hurt if someone tells me that he or she does not want to talk to me. More so than if they just don't talk to me.
Because for just not talking to me, there might be many good reasons – like having other things to do. For telling me they don't want to talk to me there can only be one reason: they don't like me. So I prefer people not telling me that they don't want to talk to me, even more so in public – cause then everyone around assumes they have a (good) reason not to talk to me (unless the people around know me well).
If you are asking about social networks it might help to enable private messages for everyone in your settings. With some questions it just feels weird to respond publically. If you want to connect with people you could also simply go through the topics and respond to what others write. That's what I do when I'm new somewhere – you know, just join the conversation.
But maybe you could provide some context, because I can definitely also think of situations where I would find it rude if someone just ignored me.

Hmm, maybe not the dumbest one, but a good one to tell:
A friend of mine had a phase where he was pretty much living for body building. He adjusted his whole life to it, sleep, workout, food, everything. On one of those body building forums he found a recipe for a body builder's tuna pizza – you know because tuna has a lot of protein. And he convinced us to bake it. Turned out it wasn't just a normal tuna pizza, oh no. The whole ground was made of tuna. And that's not the best part. You know those american style pizzas with the big border? It was like those, only that the ground was as big as the border. More than 3 centimeters of tuna. We put something on it, I don't quite remember, some vegetables or something – fit into his diet...
Stupid enough to spend money on that much tuna, but I had to go further. You know what was really stupid? That I ate a quarter of that monster. I couldn't smell, eat or even see tuna for years to come, without feeling like throwing up. :dizzy_face:
The worst thing in my life right now is me. I sabotage myself way too often, I lack discipline and my inhibitions drive me crazy. Honestly I am my biggest enemy. But I'll defeat myself, just you wait and see :muscle:

Nah, I'm pretty sure he didn't think that was an insult, so don't feel insulted. That's just the way some people talk. (He could have said it nicer though...)
Also: that guy should man up – you definitely deserve someone who is man enough to look you in the eyes. I mean if he cannot tell you such things face to face, he is also not man enough to stand up for you, support you and love you the way a woman should be loved. You'll find a better man girl.

I'm working on overcoming it, so much is for sure. I think everybody could overcome most of their insecurities if they really go at it (in baby steps of course and maybe with some help).
Yeah I see that trend too. Social media seems to increase it especially in young girls. Maybe since girls are naturally much more sensible to social feedback – which social networks constantly provide. Ten years ago you could go home after school and whatever was plagueing you at school just wasn't there. Today – even when switching schools – bullies continue hitting on kids (and not just kids I guess) over the internet...
I also want to encourage everyone here, to take the opportunity that this community gives you (maybe if need be even create a new account ;-) if that makes you feel safer) – and share with us things you wouldn't share otherwise. Try to be as honest as you can be. This way we can all learn something about life from you and with you.

Being in this world of felt distance I actually feel more comfortable to be honest about my inner world. So there are definitely parts of me that you guys get to see more clearly than most people I interact with in real life.
You know this feeling when you wish you didn't know what to say or said something stupid in a conversation and afterwards a great idea hits you? Here you have the time to think and thus – as long as you are trying to be honest – can say things more clearly and be more yourself.
I must say I had some really interesting conversations with others over the internet already and I do believe that they actually shared something meaningful with me. Thus I do believe the internet really has advantages. But...
If two of us manage to have a real, honest and meaningful conversation irl – if we succeed in overcoming all the barriers and fears – it will be soo much deeper face to face.

Today I had an idea I thought I should post here. I think it is really important that we learn to communicate who we really are, or maybe who we are and how we feel and see things in this very moment instead of just trying to please others. Because beeing honest is the only way in which others can like us – because otherwise they'll just like some persona we created and we'll continue to be alone.
Of equal importance is to learn to give others the opportunity to communicate their real self to us. This means that we learn to really listen – which is more than just hearing what the otherone says of course. Seems just as hard to me as the first thing though.
PS: questions like yours create such opportunities, keep up the good ideas!
