Most of us think that life has purpose.
That life needs a purpose.
And I dont blame anyone of you, to think that way. After all, we are battered with this thought from our childhood. Until it becomes our sole purpose of living. Your living now, is nothing but finding purpose in your life. Right?
"But, there must be a meaning for my existence." You say.
"Why should there be?" I ask.
AND A REALISATION MIGHT STRIKE IN THAT MIND OF YOURS
"WOW, Life really is Purposeless. It's obsolete. Now what?"
Here's a story:
Sisyphus was condemned to an eternity of rolling a rock up a mountain for his belief that he was more cunning than the gods.
As punishment, the rock would magically fall every time Sisyphus neared the summit.
This ABSURD punishment of Sisyphus, served him no purpose. It had no meaning to it.
IT WAS ABSURD.
But, why must we think, that Sisyphus was discontent doing it?
Just imagine;
As the rock falls down, Sisyphus is happy.
He has embraced this absurdity of this act, and revels it.
The purpose, the meaning all mattered to him. As long as he let it matter.
If you've realised by now, how void of purpose your life is, how meaningless it is.
You can go about it in three ways:
-
End It All
Choosing the easy way out like a weak person. Negating the problems, instead of fixing them. To become a weak person, and end like a weak person. But what's the point? It would be as pointless as living.
Don't stop enjoying the journey, just because there is no destination.
-
To live in a Fantasy world, or join an existing one (religion)
Good to see, you're still here. You are strong enough.
But, you are not yet comfortable. So, you create your own little world, in your own little mind. A world void of the shackles of purpose, because you have created your own purpose, in your own head.
You are in the delusion, that you have found meaning. But keep lying to yourself, my friend. At least you're still here with us, physically.
-
Embrace the ABSURDITY
Yes.
Life has NO meaning, NO purpose.
So what?
Go about it, with a smile on your face, and stop finding meaning.
Let some things be meaningless.
Embrace this meaningless-ness, my friend.
Just like Sisyphus, we are also being punished. Our punishment being, To constantly find meaning and purpose, To something that has NO MEANING AT ALL.
And just like Sisyphus, we can put a smile on our face,
and make this absurdity, we call life, a part of us
