How do you know when you are truly happy?

what does true happiness look like? is true happiness possible? Is true happiness achievable?

In my writing class today we were having a closing discussion about the book we read...we landed on the topic of happiness and how differently it looks to everyone some said in a day and age like this we will never be able to experienced true happiness since we will never be truly satisfied, we will always want more...more and more...how do we know when we are truly happy?

Happiness is what you see behind a newborn's eyes before they are inevitably brainwashed with the "I am[insert name] neurosis. It's what's always present but seemingly concealed by the "i am so-and-so" mental activity. It's the relief we all seek but can never truly have, because it is what we already are. It's what awaits once the body ceases to be, it's what's sensing through the billions of sense organs on this earth. It's when the "interpreter activity" of the body's sensory input pauses

@uncledominique Well, this is a topic of discussion since the dawn of philosophy. Empirically though, I gotta say true happiness is as fierce as it is fleeting. It is really something, but not at all worth pursuing. You are most likely to experience mild satisfaction and suddens spikes in happiness than to experience true happiness. So it is according to some philosophers, and, so far, I can't really say they were wrong. Strive for not being unhappy other than being happy. True unhappiness is as fierce as it is lingering.

I sometimes think happiness is something we'll never achieve in this life. Because we born on the earth, we grow, we live our life be it good or bad and after that we die. So where is the happiness in all this?
