I think there are a lot of stereotypes about the banjo. Only rednecks play it, it's loud and annoying, it can't play pretty music, etc. I hope the fact that I play is enough to get rid of the redneck thing. Yes, it can be pretty loud sometimes, but not always. And it compliments some instruments (namely guitar) very well. As for it can't play pretty music - I found this rather pretty.
