• If you don't think you are greedy then you are probably wrong, no matter how nice you are. Human beings are greedy, if you disagree then take a look at our politicians and economy. We care for nothing but ourselves.
Why??? Is there any reason for this? Greed might have been necessary in the past for survival but it is no longer needed now.... isn't it? Why do you think humans are so greedy? Do you think this is something that can be fixed?

  • @TheGoldenMole Greed is one of the highest forms of motivation!!!! :joy:
All of the negative forms of emotions are a mojor driving force for a person... ;p
During Shakespeare's time as well this particular emotion was emphasized upon stating how it can bring you untold power... Power more than what things like Love and Passion can bring you...
Greed, jelousy, hatred, envy etc are negative but very effective motivators... Cause they have an undying effect upon you unless you try and work your way out of these emotions which is rather very difficult...
People easily run out of love, perseverance, friendship and other such good emotions even without making an effort... If you want such good emotions to motivate you then you have to make twice the effort...
First these emotions die very fast if not taken care of, secondly at the same time you have to work towards your goal... So you land up doing double work...
Whereas when you hate some one, when you are jealous or greedy these emotions will not leave you till the end...
They will remain with you and keep motivating you and pushing you harder & harder till the time you have achieved your goal...
Envy might get over once you have destroyed the person you envy, jealousy may die if the person you are jealous of has lost that thing or person you are jealous of....
But Your Greed will with you as long as you live and will be your motivator...
Yago ( i hope the spelling is correct) was the anti- hero ( villain in India) of Shakespeare's plays... He was so motivated by his greed that he was the first Anti-hero to defeat the good guys ( even the hero) win over the girl, capture the kingdom and get all the money and live happily ever after...
Cause he believed in his Greed Truly and surrendered to it to Motivate him...

  • @Saloniii Isn't that....sad?
Greed? the best motivation we have?
Let's take a look in business setting, where greed is probably the most prominent. Business owners will cut the costs of production by using cheaper material or even child labor, while the market product will cost the same. In the end, not only are people paying too much for a less affective product, but children are also in unsafe work conditions and going through intense labor.
All because a business person was motivated to make more money than they already have, which is already more than enough.
Shouldn't we use other kinds of motivation? Like bettering the life of all humanity rather than ones self? Why do you think other kinds of motivation fail? Personally, greed doesn't motivate me, does it motivate you?

  • @TheGoldenMole yep it is bt ... without greed we can't get sucess in anything according to me :( :(

  • @Saloniii Yago be there (up and over). While I understand your argument, S, and it's cool, I disagree that emotions are the over-riding motivations of the hobbledehoy general public. The man-in-the-street is currently so bland and anodyne, they're more like half- or quarter- emotions. We're rich enough, and lazy enough (at least in England), that any of us could become stock-market-speculators and never do a single days work ever again - but we're happy enough to continue with our academic, media, or middle-middle-middle-management jobs, which don't pay as much but rely on a crazy amount of conceit. Conceit is the enemy, not emotions, or greed.

  • @Indrid-Cold Person to person thoughts differ :)

  • Hoarding resources is a dominance behaviour, which creates a bigger variety of sexual opportunities.
