I believe that all faiths and religions are fundamentally similar. Every faith that has ever existed, from organized religions like Christianity and Hinduism to disorganized pagan religions, have a common core, which is to give us mortals a chance to reach divinity through arduous spiritual journeys. In a way, we all seek the same, we merely have different ways and rituals of doing so.

I admire Dharmic faiths, I really do. I admire their ancient roots, their perseverance and their rituals, which reflect spiritual clarity. If I was not a believer in Christ, I would quite possibly be a believer in Dharmic traditions.

I like this quote I found from a Sanskrit epic: "As a man himself sows, so he himself reaps; no man inherits the good or evil act of another man. The fruit is of the same quality as the action." How very true is that.

The first words that spring to mind are AIDS, poverty, hunger, natural disasters and civil wars. As if all of this isn't bad enough, population projections tell us that by 2100, Africa as a continent will have a population of 5 billion people. If African governments cannot even handle 1,2 billion people right now without widespread hunger, how will they handle 5 billion? I have no idea, none at all.

I do admire the African people in some ways. There is a lot of spirituality and power to the African soul. A few of my favorite preachers have been Africans, and they speak the Gospel from the heart.

Not all is lost as long as you keep God's love in your heart.

Now, let me be clear: entering a foreign country as a temporary migrant is perfectly fine. Cultural exchanges are always very illuminating for everyone involved. Of course, one cannot also refuse offering asylum to women and children escaping from warfare.
However, permanently entering a foreign domain to live off the backs of the people already present, demand respect while none is given to the hosts, multiply in hundreds over the course of only a few decades - this is an awful thing indeed.

You are a man, are you not? The country you were born in shaped you, the culture and the religion you were taught as a child made you into who you are today. Why would you leave? If it is war you're running away from, stand your ground and fight like a man for a better future. If it is poverty or misery you're escaping from, be the change and work hard to improve your land so that your children may have a brighter future.

The way I see it, the only way permanent migration is acceptable is if you're willing to completely shed off your ties to your folk, your patriotic allegiance towards your country of birth, and enter your destination with a sincere wish to become an upstanding member of your newly chosen community. If you're willing to perform such a sacrifice, my hat's off to you.

@RussianBlue I resent the crass commercialization of Christmas. It is supposed to be a day of worship, introspection, and a celebration of close familial bonds.

It should NOT be a materialistic holiday of cheesy pop music and throwaway gifts, and yet it is.

Anyone who claims to be a Christian and yet doesn't believe in the existence of angels must be either confused or an iconoclast.

@Black-biler Russia has a long past of meddling in the affairs of other countries. It doesn't matter if it is controlled by a czar, a general secretary or a president: it is a question of mentality. Your leaders see themselves as the "saviours of Europe", which has led to countless acts of unwarranted destruction.

Out of all the European countries, the largest imperialist forces have been France, Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom. All of these countries have learned their lesson and have stopped pushing around their neighbors, with the glaring exception of Russia. Ukraine and Georgia have fallen victim to its naked aggression already, and it is only a matter of time until a new target is chosen for destruction.

Now let me be clear: I don't hate Russians and it would be my earnest wish to see Russia become a force for global goodwill. But as it is right now, Russia is a dangerous country to the Western civilization. The West is rotting in its amorality as it is, we don't need another factor of destabilisation to contribute to it.

@nykate2490 I believe that the world operates on the principles of Might Makes Right.

Throughout history, only the strongest societies have succeeded, while the weak have failed and perished. Ancient Rome was built on the backs of thousands of enslaved barbarian tribes, the Mongolian Empire nourished itself on the blood of millions of Asians and the British Empire was founded through the subjugation of much of the Third World. This is all pure history, these facts cannot be questioned.

This has lead me to conclude that only the strongest survive, which is why it is my firm belief that in order to succeed in life, one has to acquire strength. Power is the only thing people respect, it gives you the right to forge your own path in life.

Furthermore, I agree with @sarah_the_magpie's thesis. World peace is impossible, as the strong will always clash with each other in order to become even stronger. The weak will always be exploited, until they either become strong by their own right or perish.
