I mean I know the origin story or them term Catfish,

Some guy in the year 2000 made a documentary on how he was catfished and the husband of the woman who was catfishing him was a fisherman and he coined the term and told him this story:

“They used to tank cod from Alaska all the way to China. They’d keep them in vats in the ship. By the time the codfish reached China, the flesh was mush and tasteless. Now what I don't get is, catfishes are people who either lie or pretend to be someone else with malicious intent or due to their insecurities,

How does naming it after a Fish which actually performs an useful function justify the naming?

Are catfishes really useful to Internet?

You should totally get a girlfriend while you are in college,

Case 1: It lasts forever or a long time.
You get to spend a lot of time with that person.

Case 2: You break up and move on really soon.
Here you end up gaining valuable hands on experience which is really hard to gain once you move out into the cruel outer world.
