RE: Girls wake up by yawning and guys wake up with an erection! Coincidence?
@king-robert Sadly true. I can attest to waking up with 100% uninvoked erections. Biology is stupid.

RE: I am killing myself today
I'm not against you killing yourself if you take it very seriously and know that it means giving up everything you've worked for. If you want to make that choice, then it's your call. It's better to die young than die old, suffering, and desperate. But at the same time, think of every single thing you know, love, and cherish right now. It'll all be gone. It's a huge gamble. I hope you make the right decision, and with either choice, I hope it pays off. So long.

RE: What's your favorite role play?
I often devote my time to creating fully-interactive timelines and universes for intense roleplay. For instance, I took the game world of Mirror's Edge: Catalyst (a beautiful game and good utopian plot setting) and gave it a new history, different political background, new technologies, different people, etc.

RE: matrix
I wouldn't care. The matrix is just as meaningful as the real world because, in truth, nothing is real. There is only an illusion of reality, one that you can only break free from once you perish. The real world might not be real, but neither is the matrix. It's all a giant illusion, making us think that certain things have more meaning than others.
You punch the illusion, it punches back. It's easier to live a peaceful life than to live one where your actions ultimately won't make a difference, even though you fight like hell to make it so. Cherish the illusion.

RE: Dyson Spheres - Will Humanity Relocate?
@truongk20 I agree, it would be a huge project, one that we may never finish considering modern problems like resource depletion, national competition, religious terrorism, and countless other things. The big issue isn't building the structure itself, it's lasting long enough to complete the project.
Also, you don't necessarily have to completely surround the star. You don't even have to build a giant platform. There are multiple ways to do it, two of which I will share.
1.) Build a bunch of small space stations, not very large, just numerous, and throw them into orbit around the star. You can always add to the number of stations, the big issue is making sure they don't collide. Even so, it shouldn't happen very often.
2.) Build a massive ring around the star, similar to the ring around Saturn, except one large object. It should be relatively thin, since you can always build more, and it can house a TON of people. You can also approach this design with a ladder-like structure, where the rungs of the ladder are constantly rotating, providing artificial gravity. This also cuts back on the needed materials, since there's a sizeable gap between each rung.
Both of these methods don't require insanely strong materials, more so the former. You could always pull resources from other planets, or somehow fuse large amounts of common atoms to make things like iron, similar to how a star does. Sadly, this is not possible yet, but we're getting pretty close to starting nuclear fusion.

@AlwaysStranger Oh okay. Sorry ;-;

RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@alwaysstranger I never once treated you like shit. I've been extremely understanding of your views, and I haven't once insulted them; simply inquired about them.

RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@Ilija-Gromovnik Alright, I'm in. I'll try to get other people to do the same.

RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@Ilija-Gromovnik About the guns though... I'm bipolar, so I can't get a gun license. And the whole loan thing isn't easy. It's nearly impossible to get your feet off the ground without loans nowadays... I won't be able to go to college or get a good house.

RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@ilija-gromovnik Alright, then. I'll make some change. Where do I start?
-
RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@Ilija-Gromovnik Don't get me wrong, this isn't my first time trying to answer this question. In fact, I've thought about this question so much that my economic views have shifted from free-market to Socialist. I'd love to make some change in the world. But alone, I am insignificant.
-
RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@ilija-gromovnik If I saw something I could do, I would do it. But it takes such a large collection of people that it's nearly impossible to get everyone to do their part. If I saw other people resisting, I would do the same. But right now, we can't do crap unless by sheer luck everyone decides to put a stop to it all at once.
I completely agree that something needs to be done because we're driving ourselves directly into a wall. But without numbers, I can't do anything meaningful.

RE: choose the best part
@Mianshah It's not that simple for most people, including me. It's difficult to take your eyes off of the sadness in the world when it surrounds you. The world is kind of like a shuffled deck of cards. Every card is different, and there's no way to predict which one comes next. Uncertainty is the greatest enemy.
That being said, some people are naturally 'unlucky'. (Not that luck is real, simply that they've been born into a life over which they have little control.)
And the ones that /are/ lucky make it difficult for others to ever make it up the ladder. The greatest example of this is the economy. You can easily be born into a poor family, with no way to ever make more money, because the people at the top are greedy.
Life can /suck/. Don't deny that. It's pointless to tell yourself that life is paradise because it's simply not. Overall, it really depends on where you start. You can /try/ to steer your life in different directions, but there's no guarantee the outcome will be a good one.
Conclusion: You're gifted to be able to see things positively because some people simply can't. There are too many things surrounding them. This is why empathy is a great tool. It allows you to connect with people who can't control their lives. Just understand that it's not the people making themselves sad, it's the world around them.

RE: The truth about the world we live in!!!
@Ilija-Gromovnik The issue isn't that we don't care... It's that we can't do anything. Citizens will probably never have control over businesses since the government does a damn good job of keeping them in power over the people. Businesses will continue to do what they want, and we can't stop it. Only the rich and powerful can and they don't give a crap about the rest of society.
You may as well enjoy the comforts of the world while you can, and if by some miracle you /do/ become famous, just remember to do good things with it. Bill Gates is an example of this. He donates millions of dollars to medical research, charity, and education.
It's sad, really. We've dug ourselves into a giant hole, and we're not even the ones digging it anymore.

Dyson Spheres - Will Humanity Relocate?
Hello, my name is Denver. I'm an avid fan of science and technology.
Today's post will be about Dyson Spheres. For those who have never heard of a Dyson Sphere, it is a formation of artificial habitats either orbiting or spinning around and in close proximity to a star. There are multiple designs for Dyson Spheres, so it is advised that you do a tad bit of research on Google.
A Dyson Sphere could theoretically hold billions and billions of people if fully constructed. There would no longer be any concerns for energy, since you're right next to a star, and you can easily and efficiently install solar panels on your Dyson Sphere.
Do you think humans will ever build a Dyson Sphere in the future? Feel free to post your opinions or impressions in the comment section below.
