• Let's Educate Ourselves About Canada and what it REALLY is, not what we have been shown by authorities.
I will not be celebrating Canada Day, or at least not the way I used to. I'm spending my day reading, researching, and educating myself about the indigenous land, indigenous history, and acknowledging the fact that I am a settler, a guest on the unseeded territories of Kwikwetlem First Nations people.
Here is what I was thinking about today... I come from a background where Land was not a very important aspect of my country for many controversial reasons. But TODAY, I am living, working, and creating in a country that I MUST learn a lot about. This is NOT MY country, I must learn to respect, and acknowledge the land I am stepping foot on, the indigenous people who these lands belong to, and the history it brings.
