You want to change your running routine all the time, because you have slow and fast muscles fibres of I'm correct that have different functions. You can focus on slow twitch muscle fibres by running for extended periods of time pase yourself and increase speed as you run or when you are going to again. Fast twitch muscle fibres can be developed by doing sprints or any fast/explosive leg exercises.
