gosh, that's actually a good question.
imho acquaintances are ppl who come and go. nice to have around, but not necessarily ppl you'd spend too much time thinking about. functional/situational friendships on the periphery of your life.
a friend is someone you can trust, someone who is nice & fun and always delivers on their promises.
and a best friend is someone you can trust endlessly, like you can have really deep conversations about everything that's actually going on in your life. no fake stuff, no bs, 100% realness
for me it's all about trust. but the question is: can you truly trust an online friend? someone you've never met before? someone who may not even be who they claim to be?
i don't know, in most cases i usually don't.
it's not impossible tho. i do believe that if you have a special connection or there's something that makes an online friends seem "real", it's fine. if you can trust an online friend, they do become a real friend eventually imo.
also i dislike ppl who say "can we be friends???" too
like... no, that's not how this thing works lol
