If you were given a shred of proof, would it be enough?
I feel this question is completely legitimate, because in my experience of debating and discussing religion and faith with those who want evidence and irrefutable proof; what will be sufficient proof? Something that can't be found online, hacked, guessed, given by another source, or manipulated. They go through all their research and read articles, books, scientific and philisophical journals and conclude that God doesn't exist and life doesn't continue after death. My guess is... They don't want the proof. But I'm willing to be wrong.

What would you like to see win?
In a fight between a Polar Bear and a Siberian Tiger which would you like to see win? (The Polar Bear has the obvious advantage being bigger and stronger, but both are native to cold territories, predators, and typically loners until mating season).

RE: If god created the universe, then who created god? (question for theists)
@thestrangest 0 evidence of Jesus... That is an incorrect statement. According to modern day historians, 1 ancient Jewish historian and two Roman politicians around the Second Century AD who make reference to Jesus of Nazareth. Flavtheius Josephus (the Jewish historian), who wrote a history of Judaism around AD93 who references James the brother of Jesus, "the so-called Christ", then Pliny and Tacitus write of Jesus and his followers. Tacitus making note that Jesus was executed by Pontius Pilate.
Just because a book is deemed "sacred" doesn't make it 100% inaccurate to historical events or figures. -
RE: If god created the universe, then who created god? (question for theists)
@thestrangest Hahaha. Thank you for giving my post your thorough go-over.
I didn't say the Bible was a historical textbook, I said it was scripture. The second definition of scripture is "the sacred writings of a religion" and that is the context that I was using. Not historical, but theological.
Eggs... Well, are we talking fertilized or...
I may have mis-written about atoms to quarks, I meant that quarks made atoms, I just used a digressive pattern rather than progressive. My bad.
I mean my argument to be taken as possible just as much as the theory of the Big Bang. So my point is a possibility. I'm working on being clearer. 😊 -
RE: If god created the universe, then who created god? (question for theists)
I know I'm about to incur the wrath of thestrangest, lol, but I don't care.
I've searched for the smallest particals that we are aware of and I keep finding "quark". As far as I know and have read, there isn't an easy answer as to what a quark is or made of. It is super tiny, fits in protons and neutrons, which make the atom, etc etc. Atoms are found in every bit of matter. From active to inactive materials, every single thing in the universe is made up of atoms, all the way down to quarks.
I brought all this up because science has shown that our universe started with an explosion, "the Big Bang", a massive collection of energy (innumerable amounts of these quarks) and blew outward to expand the universe. So those quarks always existed even before being collected into the titanic ball of energy. Where is those quarks come from? They always existed. Theists gather from scripture that God is eternal. Always was, always will be. Like those quarks, always was, always will be. Scripture says humans are made in the image of God. Quarks bonded together, thanks to Gluons, to form protons/neutrons, so on so forth; just as they must have before in order to exist. Humans are created through conception, same as most every "living" thing. Animals, plants, and chemical compounds (like H²O. Gasses coming together to make water). In the King James Version of The Holy Bible, New Testament, Christ said in John 5: 18-19:
"18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."
Jesus claims to do what God, His father, has done. Jesus claims to be God's son. Jesus was living a life on Earth, in a body of flesh and blood. God, at one point in all of eternity, lived as a man in a body of flesh and blood. God was created by His own Celestial parents, and so on. (This is were I'm guessing I'll be questioned on my sanity) To answer the main question simply... Just as matter has always existed and been formed from other matter, so is the same with God, created and formed by another God. Like parents creating children and raising them to go on and do the same. An eternal cycle. -
RE: Should abortion be legal?
@rendezvous Abortion is a human issue. It is a human baby. Two humans made the human baby.
Religion teaches a perspective of life and each religion has their own answer. Some extreme and some soft.
The only punishment of a one night stand is the risk of conceiving. Every product out there that helps prevent pregnancy has a warning label that states it is not 100% effective. Also, there is also a chance a woman could conceive after being raped. Rape is a horrible crime. There aren't enough bad things to say about rape. But the fetus had nothing to do with the mother being raped, so some argue "why punish the baby?"
If the baby is a risk to the mother's life, of course it is the mother's choice to live and have the baby aborted. What most pro-life activists protest against are abortions that don't threaten the mother's life. The extreme protesters don't want abortions, period. Those people are crazy. -
RE: How I chat with boys?
Be honest about yourself. If you're not sure what he likes, ask him. Most boys are immature and get annoyed by questions and those are the ones you don't waste your time with. Boys may seem like they are from another planet but the more you interact with them in a chill manner the easier it is to talk to them. Breathe and relax, you got this!

RE: What do you like in females?
My wife is cute, funny, kind, and has a beautiful body. But why I'm attracted to her is not always what makes another woman attractive. With each person I find something unique about them. And yes, sometimes it is the obvious big boobs and nice butt. But physiques change and overall personality does win out.

RE: Creation or Evolution
@wtfjudith You bring up a good point. Think of the people who designed the first computer, and the advancements since. It is amazing what computers can do and all the complexity there as well as the human brain. Someone designed the computer from a concept, built many prototypes, and finally got something working that followed a specific program. If the universe was designed then the designer would've conceptualized, tested, and finally enacted their vision. All design takes progress. As far as where the designer came from... Who knows?

RE: Should abortion be legal?
Abortion is legal on a federal level. I believe most states have it as legal.
- Every human being has the right to choose what they do involving their own body.
- Life begins at conception. Once the sperm meets the egg it is a human life.
https://www.princeton.edu/~prolife/articles/embryoquotes2.html - People also have the right to choose not to have sex, buy condoms, and go to CPC's and receive alternate means of health care.
I'm not a woman and have no idea the immensity of a choice like getting an abortion. My wife and I can't conceive again because it is too dangerous for her after having two C sections. I hope whatever decision is made for that woman, that feels she needs one, that she is taken care of properly and treated with respect.
