There's an increase in AIs efficiency replacing humans, not just human effort but also decision making. But across industrialized regions, there's more emphasis to working than anything- including family, sex, marriage and children. Honestly its tough to loose a friend, if it isn't that friendship wasn't worth it. May be the context as to how you lost the trust makes it feel worse. Don't rush to normalize friendship, as human beings we may prefer to process things slowly. Apologise, then give them space as you reflect on yourself, why is their friendship important? Do they perceive your friendship with the same importance ? What will you be without that friendship, may be are there other things in your life stopped, may be its time to attend to them. If you're truly friends, you'll surely patch up once the dust settles.
