Have you ever wonder who invented a.s.l. ? I just wondered about it. It means age sex location (in case if u don't know full form of it).

@Cat-gif It was already commonly in use by Summer 1996 in the US. I wouldn't know how far back it goes though or who.
EDIT: I was only 9-10 years old at the time, but even us kiddos used
It was "a/s/l" back then.

The term "Asl" has been used since 1980-1990 by some public chatrooms. It was not so common till 1998 though.
It can be pronounced as "as hell" too.

@Cat-gif Not sure what country was technically first, but it was definitely the Windows 95 operating system. Back then, I don't think I had ever met a foreigner in a chat program yet. It was only us American kids. I'm not sure about world wide.
