A proton in mass units is 1.007276 amu
A neutron is 1.008664 amu
The neutron has MORE mass than the proton not the other way around. (0.001388 amu more)
I understand a positron has 0.000548756 u of mass. All 3 flavors of neutrino combined are suspected to have the amu of a millionth of an electron(same as positron). So this leaves us with a 0.001936756 amu total gain or more all while supposedly ejecting large sums of energy. This leaves THREE questions:
- How does a proton shed particles(neutrino and positron) and then end up with more mass than it even started with???
- Where is the missing discrepancy in the mass is there a particle we are not yet aware of with negative mass or something?
- Is our atomic mass data accurate enough?
