Prayer is trust. Trust is prayer. This is why St. Paul can ask us to pray without ceasing. If you pray with trust in your heart, then you truly pray.
However trust is not something you do. It is like the step from doing (reciting prayers, achieving results, getting a degree) toward being.
So. Keep praying. The more you pray like this, the more He'll start to become present in your life. Light and darkness will keep fighting, both might become stronger. But He'll win in the end. So trust. The more you trust, the faster He'll win.
And yeah. That really is hard. But He'll help. So trust, that He'll help and He will. If it seems like He's not helping, then that is because He's trying to get you to trust more. Once you really trust, you'll feel Him help you.
Incidently it is also the reason, why it makes no sense to test God. When you feel you need to test God, you are not trusting. When you are trusting, you don't feel the need to test God. And then you'll see Him act clearly too.
